Me: (Innocently) Oh, when did we drink the Stratus Cab?
Dave: I don't know, you were the one who grabbed it from the basement.
Me: (Confidently) Oh, yes, I remember now. It was amazing... all fruity and ripe with just a hint of spice.
Dave: Silence, but this time with a raised eyebrow.
Me: (Sheepishly) I think maybe we need to go to the liquor store soon?
Our only tenet during these stocking-up trips is that we spend $12 or less on a bottle (it used to be $10 or less but we've given ourselves a wine raise). Dave goes his way, and I go mine, and when we get home we compare bottles.
There's always a mix of things we've had before and a few new ones to try.
This was last week's line-up:
Cusumano Nero D’Avola
La Vieille Ferme Red
La Vieille Ferme White
Fontini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
Casal Thaulero Sangiovese
Lurton Sauvignon Blanc (this is usually around $14, but was on special)
Ogier Rhone Rosè Ventoux
Peller Estate Chardonnay
Angel’s Gate Chardonnay (Dave cheated and bought this at $13.95)
Do you have a cheap go-to wine?
